About Election
HOW DO I VOTE?
The Maribyrnong City Council elections will be held on October 27th, 2012. However, there are no ballot boxes on the day, as this election is by postal vote. Ballot papers will be mailed to voters in the weeks leading up to the election, so the first thing you must ensure is that you are registered on the electoral roll. You can do this on the Australian
Electoral Commission website
The election will be conducted by the Victorian Electoral Commision, please check their website for more information.
Don’t forget, even if you don’t live in Maribyrnong, but you own property here, you may still be eligible to vote. If you are the first or second named person on the rates notice of an investment property you own, you can vote in the Maribyrnong election, even if you are voting in another council
election in the area you live, but please be aware, you can not vote twice in the same election.
I will be posting more information about how to vote, in particular in regards to preferencing, as we get closer to the election, so please watch this space.
If you have any questions about how to vote, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me via the details on the contact page

My name is Grant Miles, and I will be an Indepenent candidate for the Yarraville ward in the upcoming Maribyrnong City Council elections on October 27, 2012. I have been a resident in the City of Maribrynong since 1988, living in Yarraville for nine years, Kingsville for three years, and Footscray for the past twelve years. I have also operated a business in Nicholson St, Footscray for fifteen years called Cheaper Buy Miles. I have a wife of Japanese origin, and we have one child, aged nine. I have been the President of the Footscray Traders Association for the past two and a half years, where I have played an integral role, along with many others, in fighting for the removal of the disastrous parking cameras from Footscray, and I am the organiser of the highly successful event called the Rickshaw Run. I am extremely passionate about my local area as a resident, and as a small business operator. I am fiercely independent, and have no connection with any political party.
